Devon Participatory Project PDF Print E-mail

In 2007 we decided to use the skills and partnerships we had developed over the last few decades to devise a unique project, which will work to build artistic capacity within grass root art & community organisations imbedded within Devon.

The project untitled The Devon Participatory Project offers advice, support and performance interaction.

  • Artistic/technical support on request provided for organisations who are already confident to produce their own creative events and performances but need a little help
  • Skills building and participatory workshops and events targeted at specific communities of disadvantage.
  • Touring our own arts product  - a product that has been devised through an independent Steering Group facilitated by Common Players of creative associates who will ensure that projects will reflect the concerns, culture and interests of Devon's communities.

The resource employs a part time Project Development Director, who provides a hub from which creative work can be organised and relationships with communities maintained and developed.  Working with the Creative Associates to generate project ideas that further the creative aims of the company; this group is composed of practitioners who seek to work in Devon.  In return for the creative input in the development of projects, associates may be contracted later, funding permitting, to deliver projects or aspects of projects that the group has devised.

In 2008, the project will facilitate professional productions touring Devon communities will be produced, with over 30 performances in local communities.

If you want to work with us on this project, as a community group or are interested in joining or supporting the Creative Associates to devised innovative art projects within Devon, please contact Sarah Flay.
