ImageThe Common Players was formed in 1989, seeking to inspire communities, through theatre and participatory work, to develop their own creative aspirations.

Theatre lies at the heart of our work.  We aim to produce original, exciting and relevant theatre both for and with the people who, usually because of where they live, have little chance to experience the excitement of live performance.

Our Theatre is informed by an understanding of past traditions whilst embracing new opportunities afforded by technology, striving for our work to have impact long after we have packed our van and moved onto our next venue.

Our work is not static.  We evolve as we form new partnerships, taking us in exciting new directions, continuing our journey exploring the transformative potential of arts in our communities.

Our website will give you information about our aims,  history, our working methods, partnerships and, I hope, communicate the passion we have for our work.  But rather than just read about The Common Players, I also invite you to experience our work.  You can find dates of our next performances here.
