Pomona:
Pomona is a beautiful, fully-functioning apple press sculpted for Common Players by artist Jon Rodney-Jones. Each autumn, Pomona is towed to village greens, orchards, farmers markets and other community spaces, giving local people the opportunity to turn their surplus apples into juice. Around midday, Pomona arrives in your village and everyone has a chance to press their local apples to a lively musical accompaniment. Our apple animateurs are also on hand to give apple advice and information and help you identify your local apple varieties. Pomona can produce some 50 litres of juice an hour, but she needs willing helpers. She also goes into schools, where we can offer a whole day of apple related activities. Pomona works best when accompanied by our pomacious evening of vivacious varieties The Peasgood Nonsuch Music Hall Extravaganza! Perfect for harvest celebrations and autumnal community gatherings.
